A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has suggested the creation of a new police unit to protect schools from bandit attacks.He said this while reacting to the recent abduction of 73 students at Government Day Secondary School Kaya, Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State.The former presidential candidate of the Peoples
Democratic Party also lamented the attack and abduction of the students saying For a region that’s playing catch-up in the critical area of education, this continued assault on the bedrock of our development is not acceptable.
He therefore suggested a School Protection Standby Unit to be deployed exclusively to protect schools in areas prone to these attacks. Zamfara Police Command confirmed that gunmen on Wednesday attacked Government Day Secondary School Kaya, Maradun Local Government Area, kidnapping 73 students.
