Ogun Police Arrest Three Suspected Ritualists For Exhuming Corpse

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspected ritualists after exhuming the corpse of one Segun Taiwo buried about six months ago at Abule Sikiru in Sabo, Abeokuta.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Friday identified the suspects as Sunday Aregbede, Salisu Mamud and Bosere Rasaq.

Oyeyemi said the suspects were apprehended following a distress call from one Chief Felix Obe, who informed the police at the Ilupeju Divisional Headquarters that he sighted some men digging a grave.

He said, “Upon the information, the DPO, Ilupeju Division, SP Mustapha Opawoye, quickly led his men to the scene where the three suspects were apprehended with an already exhumed corpse with the help of members of the community.”

Oyeyemi also said that investigations carried out showed that the suspects exhumed the corpse to use part of it for money rituals.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation, adding that they would be charged.
