Banks, Schools Shut As Anambra Residents Observe Sit-At-Home

Anambra residents have continued to sit-at-home on Mondays despite assurances by Governor Willie Obiano and the Police Command to protect them

From Onitsha to Nnewi, down to Ekwulobia and Awka, banks, schools, markets are shut for the 11th week in the State

The Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) on August 9 declared sit-at-home in Igbo land, until it’s leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was released from detention

But, that decision was allegedly, called off by the pro biafra agitators, through the Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful under controversial circumstances.

However, one of the Directors in the group, Chika Edozien, countered the directive, announcing that sit-at-home would continue, adding the only order their members should adhere to was the one from their leader, Nnamdi Kanu

The situation instilled fears in the residents, who had vowed to stay indoors every Monday instead of losing their lives to “unknown gunmen”.

Governor Obiano had appealed to the banks, markets and residents not to listen to non-State actors ,adding the security operatives were equal to the task of protecting lives and property.
