Police in Kano have rescued an 80-year-old man, Alhaji Nadabo from abductors in the Ciromawa area of Garun Mallam council of the state.
Police spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, told The Nation that a report was received that the octogenarian was abducted about 1957 hours at the weekend.
“Upon receiving the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, instructed a team of Operation Puff Adder, led by Usman Maisoro, to rescue the victim and arrest the culprits.
“The team promptly rushed to the scene. With combined efforts of local vigilante and members of the community, the kidnappers were trailed. With sustained follow up, they released the victim unhurt at 2020 hours and fled.
“More detectives have been deployed to ensure the arrest of the culprits. “The commissioner of police has thanked all Community Policing stakeholders for their continuous support, encouragement and cooperation,” DSP Kiyawa said.
