Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has donated two houses for two wives of late Inspector Aminu Salisu who died in active service.
The late Aminu was one of the Governor” expert riders.
Governor Bello gave the donation at the government house, Lokoja during the launching of emblem for the 2022 armed forces remembrance day to honour the fallen heroes.
As Nigerians geared towards preparations for the 2022 armed forces remembrance ceremony, was the nationwide emblem launch and fundraising held across the nation.
Service and Ex-servicemen and women joined the state governor and top government functionaries in government house, lokoja to launch and to generate funds to support the welfare of the ex-servicemen and families of the fallen heroes.
The State Security Adviser, Jerry Omodara said the prevailing peace and security in the state is a direct product of the sacrifices and diligent service of the security agencies.
The National Chairman, Legion of Ex-servicemen, retired Major General A.M. Jibril, represented by Morenike Henry commended Governor Yahaya Bello for building a befitting secretariat for the state legion.
The State Legion of Ex-Servicemen, David Salawu, appreciated Governor Bello for caring for members of the legion, pleading for generous donations to enable it to meet the welfare needs of its members.
Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello pointed out that the event of the emblem launch is symbolic as it signifies the gratitude of the government and people for the sacrifices of the armed forces, noting that it is a moment to reflect on the desired unity and security of the country and as well pondered on the challenges facing the nation’s security agencies.
He called on various organisations, individuals and corporate bodies to freely donate into the coffer of the ex-servicemen and families of the fallen heroes.
He lamented over the saddening situations some security personnel faced after giving their all in the service of the country.
Governor Bello assured the legion of ex-service men in the state, of his commitment to their welfare as he used the opportunity to honour the late Inspector Adamu Salisu, one of his Expert Riders who died in the course of duty.
He presented keys and titled documents of two houses bought in Abuja for the two wives of late Inspector Adamu Salisu on behalf of his administration.
He stressed that he was aware of the hazardous nature of their responsibilities, saying their sacrifice is rooted in their belief in the unity and sovereignty of the country. He congratulated the living heroes.
January 15 every year is always set aside to remember the fallen heroes in Nigeria.
