An online television outfit based in Abuja has disagreed sharply with Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum over his reaction to comments that compare his performance with other governors. The governor said there should be no basis for comparison as, according to him, all states have their peculiarities. Reacting on behalf of Clearview TV, the CEO, Odion Bello said the television outfit will keep up the comparison as long as there are bases for it. He said Governor Zulum has even distinguished himself as a silent achiever who does not run to buy television slots to broadcast the commissioning of every kitchen he built because the governor believes that the money to be spent hyping himself for two hours on a national TV will provide more than ten points of potable water or a ten kilometre road or school fees for some children up to university level. Bello said while some, if not many governors administer from Abuja and may even be holding state executive council meetings in the FCT, Zulum operates from his Borno base from where he has survived four assassination attempts. Reacting to the issue of peculiarities, Bello said that in any state, road development is road development, scholarship is scholarship, urbanisation is urbanisation – no peculiarities in all of these. Reacting further, the Clearview TV CEO said many states have not witnessed ordinary wrestling tournament as compared with Borno’s twelve years of war resulting in thousands of deaths and displacement of about two million people with humanitarian needs. Still, the state is taking giant strides. Borno lost almost one million private homes representing 30 percent of homes in the state to insurgent destructions, also hundreds of municipal buildings, police stations, classrooms, health centres, power sub-stations, distribution lines, hand pumps, solar powered boreholes and more. The CEO therefore concluded that the development strides of Governor Zulum call for comparison and said, Sir, we beg to disagree with you.
