The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has sued the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the party and the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal following the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential primary election held May 29, 2022,
During the primary election held in Abuja,Clearview tv reported that the Sokoto Governor, while addressing delegates, asked them to vote for Wike but later declared that he stepped down for the former Vice President, Atiku. Atiku later polled 371 votes as winner, while Wike and Bukola Saraki garnered 237 and 70 votes, respectively.
Political Observers say this court action is as a result of Wike’s frustration occassioned by the emergence of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State where he saw himself as the preferred candidate. While Some youths in Port Harcourt said PDP as a party, in the first instance gave Wike a larger than life size which has crowned him as a God, others say, whom the gods would destroy, they first made mad. Wike and his loyalists have been in a face-off with Atiku’s camp since the conclusion of the PDP’s primary election. Only yesterday,
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State also insisted that for peace to reign, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu must resign from office. This was Wike’s condition for peace when Adamawa State governor, Umaru Fintiri, visited him in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, yesterday.
