The FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, revealed that the victim was found on June 5, lying in a pool of blood with a slit throat at Ngugu Close Area 11 Garki Abuja. Through a meticulous investigation to uncover the perpetrators of this heinous act, the police apprehended three individuals: Obasieyene Inemesit Inem, Aaron Anthony, and Alasan Ayomide Olusegun. These suspects are students of Bingham University and are currently under suspension from the institution.
During the investigation, it came to light that the deceased was a bolt driver who had been summoned by one of the suspects to transport them to Guzape Area in Abuja, where they intended to purchase Indian hemp. However, upon their return to the starting point, they realized they had no money to pay for the trip. In an attempt to deceive the driver, they displayed a fake debit alert on their phone, but the driver refused to accept it, stating that he hadn’t received any payment.
Amidst the ensuing argument, one of the suspects wielded a knife and slit the driver’s throat before fleeing the scene. All three suspects have admitted to their involvement in the crime and will face charges in court soon.
Additionally, the Nyanya division’s operatives arrested a scavenger named Abdusalam Mohammed Abubakar for kidnapping a three-year-old boy. The suspect had enticed the young boy, intending to take him along with his scavenging materials. However, he was caught and almost subjected to mob justice in the process.
The abducted boy was successfully rescued, and the suspect confessed to the crime during the investigation. He also mentioned an accomplice named Abba, who had encouraged him to find a boy for him. The rescued child has been reunited with his parents, and the suspect will soon be presented before the court for trial, according to the FCT Police Commissioner.
